Fighting between Kurdish forces and Islamic State (Isis) militants for the Syrian border town of Kobani fuelled rising tensions inside Turkey on Tuesday as thousands of protesters took to the streets to voice anger and frustration about the inaction of the Ankara government. On top of that, people recently started to warn about Isis militants getting even closer to Kobani and that we had to prepare ourselves to leave at any moment. Within 24 hrs, my uncle came to our house to warn that Isis militants were inside Kobani. We were so terrified to hear that and thought of the massacres that usually followed any Isis attack. The Syrian army had pulled out of our town long time ago to leave Kobani facing its destiny alone. We left all our valuables at home amid heavy clashes between Kurdish fighters and Isis.kobani protests Several papers use fire analogies, with tabloid Posta referring to "days of fire". Opposition Cumhuriyet says "fire surrounds Turkey", and left-wing Taraf worries that "Kobane fire burns us from the inside".
